Langinkoski

Kalastajat

Langinkoski is the lowest of the fishing spots in Kymijoki. It ends virtually in the sea. It is undoubtedly the best sea trout rapid in Kymijoki, and perhaps in all of Southern Finland. Every year it yields both salmon and many fine sea trout just arrived to the river.

The history of sports fishing in Langinkoski extends at least to the late 1880s, when Alexander III, Emperor of Russia, had the Imperial Fishing Lodge built by the rapids and acquired fishing rights there. The lodge is situated on the east side of the rapids. Today it is a museum in its original state. Fishing rights in the rapids belong to the Finnish state.

At Langinkoski, fishing is only allowed using traditional fly fishing equipment. A maximum total of 8 people at a time can fish at the rapids. Langinkoski is a conservation area owned by Metsähallitus. Fishing arrangements are the responsibility of Villi Pohjola. For instance, it is forbidden to make fires in the area. Unlike the Siikakoski fishing area, Langinkoski is not available for fishing between 1 October and 15 November. There are separate fishing rules in force in the area.
