Korkeakoski harling area

  1. Fishing is done primarily by harling downstream, at first. If there is even one boat party fishing downstream, the other parties must fish the same way to avoid confusion. Casting from the bank and from the boats is forbidden.
  2. The fishing area divides into “pools”. The borders of the pools are presented in the accompanying fishing map. Each boat will take turns fishing through the pool at a suitable distance from each other. Do not go below a boat lowering the lure without getting permission. Take account of the other fishermen. Do not hang around in one place for a long time if there is another boat lowering the lure above you.
  3. If a boat party catches a fish from the pool during their turn, they may continue fishing until the end of the pool, keeping the normal distance to the boat coming next.
  4. Using the motor in fishing situations is unconditionally forbidden. Motors can however be used when moving from one location to another.
  5. A maximum of 3 rods per boat can be used in fishing situations.
  6. All persons in the boat must hold a current fishing licence.
  7. Fishermen must yield to other boat traffic. They are also responsible for any damage caused to other traffic.
  8. Fishing is allowed using rented boats and private boats that have reserved a City of Kotka boat place at the opposite bank of Keskuskenttä and below the motorway bridge.
  9. Rising to the bank is only allowed at the rest sites reserved by the city.
  10. Fishermen must record their catch in the catch diary at Korkeakosken Kalastuskievari.
  11. If the above-mentioned boats with their boat parties are encountered fishing outside the area covered by the licence or breaking these rules in some other way, their licence will be cancelled and they will immediately lose their boat place.
  12. The catch quota is licence-specific. Rental boats and yellow-stickered private boats will follow the Siikakoski licence conditions: 2 salmon, seatrout or rainbowtrout  per licence per 24 hours, with the exception of the 6-hour licence, which entitles the holder to take 1 fish. The licence expires when the holder has taken in the boat the maximum number of fish allowed.
  13. For those who are fishing with other private boats, the catch quota is boat-specific: 2 fish per boat per 24 hours.
  14. Fishing is allowed throughout the year. In the upper part of the Kunnari stretch, between the “green booth” and the upper limit of the harling area, fishing is forbidden between 15 October and 15 November.
  15. All salmon, trout in spawning dress and overwintering fish (kelt) must be released without damage between 1 October and 31 May. At other times, it is recommended to release fish in spawning dress.
  16. Killing of fish overwintering in the waters after spawning (kelt) is forbidden.
  17. In addition to these rules, fishers must follow the general Siikakoski fishing rules. The use of rowing weights is however allowed.
  18. Re-renting of boats is unconditionally forbidden without permission from the city.
  19. It is forbidden to give one's private boat licence to any other party.
  20. It is forbidden to cause unnecessary disturbance to private beaches.
