The Central Kymi Special Fishing Licence Area

Kymijoki, known for its long fishing traditions and rich fish populations, is now offering excellent opportunities for fishing in the Central Kymi Special Fishing Licence Area. The project, realised in co-operation with the owners of the waters and the local authorities, will promote tourism and business in the area and make the area more attractive. The area is achieving a solid reputation among fishers.

Kymijoki also offers a good setting for other recreational activities, such as canoeing and backpacking. There are also many opportunities for cultural activities in the area, which is rich in cultural history.

Many different types of fishing are possible in the Central Kymi Special Fishing Licence Area. Fishing in the area has been divided into four forms suitable for the different sub-areas. These are spinning on the riverbank (2 locations); fishing from rowboats (4 locations); motorboat trolling (10 locations); and angling and jigging. The latter are allowed in locations with no stream, where they are not forbidden according to §8 of the Finnish Fishing Act (Kalastuslaki).
